The purpose of Saint Matthew Catholic Church's music ministry is the glory of God and the sanctification and edification of souls. Through sacred music, we aim to offer pleasing worship to Almighty God and lead God's people into closer union with him in the sung celebration of the Mass and other liturgical rites.


Saint Matthew offers choirs for adults and youth.

  • The Saint Matthew Chorale is the choir for those ages 18 and up.
  • This choir routinely sings at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on most Sundays, the 4:00 p.m. Saturday evening Mass once per month, and for holy days and special occasions, especially the main liturgies of Holy Week.
  • The Saint Matthew Chorale offers a wide variety of sacred music including Gregorian chant, vernacular plainsong, hymns, polyphony, motets and anthems, and worthy contemporary compositions.
  • Starting this August, regular rehearsals will be held at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the choir room (room across from the Adoration Chapel attached to the Parish Center) except on the days the choir sings at the Saturday evening Mass, in which case the choir will meet at 2:30 p.m. A more detailed schedule can be found on the Saint Matthew Chorale page (forthcoming).
  • It is our hope that this change will enable more people to participate, especially those who work second/third shifts, those who may not drive at night, families, etc.
  • Saint Matthew Pueri Cantores is our youth choir program for students in grades 3-12. These choirs allow for the voices of our children and youth to lead the sung worship of the Church and develop musical skills that they can carry with them throughout their lives.
  • Currently, Saint Matthew Pueri Cantores sings at Mass 2-3 times per month:
  • Once per month on Sundays at the 10:30 a.m. Mass
  • Once per month on Saturdays at the 4:00 p.m. Mass
  • Other holy days such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Easter Sunday.
  • Rehearsals are Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the choir room (detailed schedule forthcoming).
  • Starting this fall, Saint Matthew's youth choir program is pleased to be joining the American Federation Pueri Cantores (hence the new name). Pueri Cantores is the official international student choral organization of the Roman Catholic Church, with 32 federations worldwide comprising over 70,000 young singers. The American Federation Pueri Cantores organizes regional choral festivals led by expert guest conductors and Masses often celebrated by the diocesan bishop in cathedrals and other major churches across the country, including here in Florida. The next Florida festival is slated for March 6, 2027 at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Ave Maria, FL. More details will be forthcoming.


Additional opportunities to participate include:

  • Cantors aid in leading the assembly's song at Masses at which no choir is present. Cantors must be active members of one or more of our parish choirs.
  • Instrumentalists enhance the sung prayer by adding various wind, string, and brass instruments to the music. Local professional musicians are added to our ensembles on major feast days, but proficient volunteers are also invited to join on a regular or occasional basis.
